The Level 1 Reading Program introduces phonetic sounds to students, directs students on how to blend sounds together, and gets students reading sentences in just the first lessons. All video lessons and tasks follow Direct Instruction’s Model-Lead-Test format, giving students one and only one possible interpretation in presentations.
What does this mean for students? Less confusion, and less frustration, and stronger reading skills!
The Level 2 Reading Program reviews all phonetic sounds so that students can practice and solidify their reading skills. Lessons begin with word lists that develop student vocabulary, teach irregular words by spelling, and prepare students with difficult words from the story reading. All video lessons and tasks follow Direct Instruction’s Model-Lead-Test format. Students read stories of 100 to 300 words in length.
By the end of Level 2, students have learned the 1000 most common words in English – they are ready to read over 80% of the written material they will encounter in their lives!
